How do I use the manual lap feature?
What is the manual lap feature for?
The manual lap is an optional feature that you can enable for certain sessions. It allows you to adjust the duration of your warm-up so you can move on to the main part of your session at the time and place that suits you best.
It’s also particularly useful for hill workouts — you can manually lap your watch when you reach the bottom of the hill, avoiding the need to calculate an awkward or imprecise recovery time.
How do I activate manual lap?
The option will appear on sessions that are compatible with manual lap. If the session isn’t eligible, the option simply won’t be visible.
Example: In a Threshold 60 session with 1 warm-up block + 1 threshold work block + 1 cool-down block → only the warm-up and cool-down blocks will support manual lap.
Can I use manual lap in all my sessions?
Manual lap cannot be used during endurance runs or long runs without active blocks.
🔎 Manual lap is available for warm-ups, recovery phases, and cool-downs.
Does it affect my progress?
Manual lap gives you more flexibility in your training sessions, but it has no negative impact on your progress — as long as it’s used wisely.
For instance, if you lap manually for a recovery period after a hill effort, make sure your rest time is close to the one originally planned. Deviating too much from the recommended recovery can affect the accuracy and effectiveness of your training.
As for warm-ups and cool-downs, doing them a bit longer or shorter than predicted has no downside. Extra distance will still be included in your weekly training summary.
Which services is manual lap compatible with?
Manual lap works with all watches connected to Campus: Garmin, Coros, and Suunto (excluding Strava).
